As concerned citizens who have been following the high profile case of missing Maddie Jones and Baby William, are aware that defendants in such cases often reach plea deals that include convictions for lesser crimes or reduced sentences.
What was done to Jacob Gouchenour, his family and baby William was horrific. The baby was used as a pawn by his mother and her parents and treated as a possession, rather than as a human being with rights,to have a relationship with both parents. Further, William’s security and safety were risked by being on the run.
The cost to the Gouchenour family in trying to ensure that Jacob Gouchenour could be a part of his son’s life, as well as the costs to the city of Mesa, Maricopa County and the states of Arizona and California in connection with rescuing and recovering this child, are high.
In too many cases where one parent is bitterly trying to prevent the other parent from having rights to their child, the children are either never recovered, and remain hidden , or are even tragically murdered by a parent whose hatred for their ex, surpasses their love for their child.
In order to obtain justice for William, his father and family, and to deter others from believing they can take the law into their own hands or aid those who are doing so, We ask that you make sure there are real consequences for all involved in the crimes associated with William’s disappearance. Many people are aware of and following this case. This is a chance to ensure that others know such criminal conduct will not be tolerated in the state of Arizona. We ask in this case in particular that the terms of bail for all 3 defendants be upheld. In addition, the maximum sentence of 2-3 years leaves plenty of time for restitution and healing. The Jones family has caused irreparable harm to many people, not the least of whom happen to be Jacob and William Jones Gouchenour.  Madeline, Cassandra and Roland Jones must be held accountable for the damage they have caused with a sentence that is appropriate.
