Maria Fidelis Catholic School restricts the options of uniform choices for girls. Currently, Maria Fidelis female students only have the option of skirts (kilt) for their uniform. This petition is not to remove the option of the skirt, but to simply add the option of wearing trousers which would allow girls freedom in their uniform and comfort during school. Especially with the uprise with women in power and cases of oppression recently in the media, it is important to break down gender barriers and restrictions towards girls. Trousers are a desired option by female students which not only allow them comfort but to also allow them to remain looking smart and classy in school, representing Maria Fidelis respectfully. Through allowing this second option, Maria Fidelis students - from the young impressionable ages of 11 to 16 - would have been set a beneficial example that women do not have to submit to social stereotypes through being able to express their right and freedom of being comfortable in their uniform. In hope for this change, this petition has been created and every single signature is capable of having the impact of causing this movement to become a reality.
