I would like to resolve the issue my neighbors and I are having with getting parking tickets on the street we live on. The problem that we are having is there isn't enough parking spaces available at the curb so we park in the median which causes us to receive parking tickets. I understand that it is against the law but what else ate we suppose to do. Grant it we don't get tickets all the time but I think we have received and paid enough of these tickets over the years.

I live in the 5100 block of Whitaker Ave.There are about 75 homes on this block. Every home on this block has at least two car registered to their home. We personally have four cars including my daughter's car. One of our cars that we aren't using at this time is parked in our driveway.

On December 31,2019 and January 1, 2020 the police came through our neighborhood and gave everyone that was parked in the median from the 5000 to the 5200 block of Whitaker Ave a parking ticket. My household received a total of five tickets in two days totaling $155. The first day one f our cars was parked at the curb. I think that is unfair when the officers can plainly see that there weren't any available spots at the curb. On top of that, my husband is a City of Philadelphia employee and he can't have tickets on his record. This will affect his employment so we pay them. I don't see tickets being handed out in South Philly and they park in the bus zones, medians and on the sidewalk all times of the day.

The only solutions that I can think of at this time is fixing the paving that the trash trucks are destroying when they pick up the trash in the back of our homes so we can be able to access our driveways or permit parking. I know that parking permits may be costly for some but in the long run not as costly as parking tickets.
