Jamie Baker started this petition to Maria D'Andrea and

Our alley is unique in that it is a direct arterial passthrough (similar to Corona, Downing, and Logan streets) directly to highway 285. Because of this, we have more traffic than a ‘regular’ alley, and thus a tremendous rut and mud problem I’m sure you’re very well aware of.

Not only is our alley unkempt, but it’s a safety and health hazard to have standing ponds of mud behind our homes. Not being able to walk outside to get into our cars without stepping through 12” deep sludge in some places is simply unacceptable.

Having a paved alley would benefit the taxpayers and neighbors in the following ways:

1.      Increased visibility into illegal dumping of brush, garbage, and other questionable activities

2.      Increased quality of life via not having to have our garages, cars, and homes destroyed with mud every time we get rain or snow

3.      Increased surface sustainability for the multiple trash haulers that enter the alley 3x per week – we’d no longer have these ruts

4.      Increased home values as no one wants to contend with an off-roading mud pit behind their home

Since the City of Englewood Colorado has neglected to groom our unpaved alleyways, and has made zero effort to maintain these public ways, paving is a viable and long-term solution for this persistent problem that is a burden on the citizens and taxpayers who must use this public way to access their homes.
