Goes against efication, historicly tangable experiances are nessesary, mechanical engineering skills and lnowlage are socialy in jepordy the world over, people that tupicaly threaten extictiom of rare example of these types don not see their value in education and often lack those skills causing devaluation. You are incredibly lucky to have such fine historical example to share with the wold, there are many ways to lean, removing real example such as this kills many learning pathways books, pictures, coruptale computer filesare never a replacement for tangible fact.

The gradual and eventual disappearance of this Statutory Function shows what a travesty both local and national planning has become. On the one hand claiming to protect our heritage and environment and on the other getting rid of the expertise, experience and tools to ensure that the impact of planning decisions are based on a full and proper assessment of the applications. This proposal will drastically weaken the ability of LPA's to resist inappropriate applications but then this may be its ultimate aim.

The closure of Lancashire's HER is a retrograde step that has implications for the protection of archaeology across the UK.

Anyone who works in heritage or cares about heritage should sign this petition.

I have worked as a professional archaeologist in Lancashire for many years. The County archaeology service have always provided objective and helpful advice when needed and have allowed ready access to their invaluable source of material. We are completely against the service being outhoused to a commercial body who would be able to use this resource in their own interest to the detriment of other practitioners.
