Welcome everyone,

This petition is about the word “Latinx”. Originally, I was taught that the word Latinx involved the LGBTQ+ community. I thought it was an excellent idea to involve the word in my Facebook group because even though I had a gut feeling it was wrong, I thought maybe the group would like it. But unfortunately, the word Latinx is being more and more seen as a negative term just as I thought.

People had been commenting on my Facebook group about the word Latinx saying that they feel like the word is discriminating their identity as a Hispanic, Latina or Latino. Also, people have been saying that I, myself am “against” that word. I personally am not against it I just don’t think the word is appropriate to use that word over the original words used to identify people. More and more people are using the term and it’s not right.

I want to know what you, the people, think about the word Latinx. Do you think we should keep the words Hispanic, Latina and Latino or change it to Latinx?

Quick note, if you see anyone using the word “Latinx” please tell them to not use it. It’s just pinning down the original words.
