The people of the State of Florida respectfully request that our government stand up and STOP the unchecked abuses of corporate landlords who are systematically buying up thousands of single-family homes and engaging in unethical and immoral practices. 

Although the State of Florida has, thus far, refused to acknowledge in any meaningful way or address this ever-increasing, serious, life-threatening challenge to our population, specifically our low-income and middle-income essential workers, the situation has become untenable and unsustainable.  As corporate landlords continue to impose escalating, unregulated rate-hikes, (currently unrecognized as price-gouging in the State of Florida), and employ unethical fee-stacking and other nefarious practices, the population is growing ever more desperate, as people are held captive by these predators, unable to afford to move and unable to afford to stay.  If the government DOES NOT ACT, many will continue to be forced to either leave the state or forced into homelessness; not to mention that these actions have contributed to not only pricing most residents out of homeownership, but is increasingly removing even the possibility of future homeownership from our people, leading to desperation. 

We, the PEOPLE, agree that while more affordable housing projects may help in alleviating the housing shortage, it will NOT solve the problem.  We therefore request that our government act in our behalf to STOP thee practices, either by seizing these properties (following the example in Berlin), or buying them back by exercising imminent doman and renting them at affordable rates which could contribute to stabilizing the current real estate market, or through any other legal remedies at hand, up to and including reviewing and revising our current state laws. 

We further request that the State of Florida impose regulations prohibiting corporate and equity investors from buying up single family homes in the State of Florida, from rate hikes in excess of 3% per year, and imposing legislation that would make fee-stacking and other unethical practices prohibited and punishable by law.
