Senator Marco Rubio: Reject NRA Money & Stand With Floridians

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

Florida Senator Marco Rubio has taken more than $3.3M dollars from the National Rifle Association, starting in his freshman year, when Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting occurred, through the Orlando Nightclub Shooting, the Las Vegas mass shooting, the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting, and finally the Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting.

All on his watch. Three in his home state.

The students of Stoneman Douglas, in one of the few town hall meetings that Rubio has ever elected to attend, asked him to give up his money from the NRA. It was a difficult request, to stand up for a the people that he is elected to represent, not the special interests who have been lining his pockets.

He stood by the money. From CNN:

"People buy into my agenda, and I do support the Second Amendment."
When Kasky kept asking Rubio whether he would continue to accept the NRA's contributions, the senator said that was the wrong way to look at it and that people "buy into" his agenda.

"In the name of 17 people, you cannot ask the NRA to keep their money out of your campaign?" Kasky asked.

Rubio said, "I think in the name of 17 people, I can pledge to you that I will support any law that will prevent a killer like this from getting a gun," but he did not say he would refuse the NRA's money.

"There's money on both sides of every issue in America," Rubio said. "I will always accept the help of anyone who agrees with my agenda."

Standing for a constitutional right doesn't require you, Mr. Rubio, to take the NRA's money, or to advocate for allowing civilians to own weapons of war.

We, the undersigned, ask Senator Rubio, to honor Cameron Kasky's request, that he stop taking money from the NRA. We further ask him, while protecting the Second Amendment, to remove weapons whose design is to inflict maximum human injury and death, from civilian ownership.
