Canada To Extend IEC Work Visa

Temporary Workers Can Extend Their Stay In Canada

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced a new policy that allows temporary workers more time to apply for a restoration of status due to the challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Up until this new announcement, temporary residents had 90-days to submit a restoration of status application. They now have until December 31, 2020 to apply to restore their status (assuming they meet the requirements of the status they are applying to restore.) This policy applies to former work permit, study permit, and temporary resident visa (TRV) holders who are currently in Canada and whose status expired after January 30, 2020.

I have attached Guide 5553 - Apply for a work permit inside Canada - extend, change conditions, initial and open work permits from the IRCC website.

Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition so far. Please continue to share on social media and hopefully we can get even more signatures. I have also been in contact with the CP24 News office based in Toronto who seem to be interested and could potentially do a story!
