On March 31, 2012 the life of Marco Mendez, sr. was cut short at the age of 22 by a group of cowards that brutally beat him to death. He was a son, father, brother nephew, cousin and a fiancée. Marco was brutally murdered in Port Salerno, Martin County, FL and his death remains unsolved even though the police department knows who is responsible. Unfortunately, the law states he cannot be forced to answer questions. They have ruled it a self defense case even though they have not questioned his murderer. Can someone please explain this to his family. On 3/31 witnesses stated that Marco was beaten to death by a group of people later recanting the story when directed by police which can be heard on audio interviews. The police in Martin County state to several witnesses they are only trying to justify his death and no one will be arrested if they just cooperate and admit it was a one on one incident. The family has listened to these interviews several times and cannot believe what they are hearing. In one interview the witness(also a suspect)clearly states to the police “you are asking me to tell you something I can’t remember or don’t know” and the detective continues to tell him to state it was a one on one fight, however he refuses. That same evening Marco was placed in the bed of a truck where 3 boys drove around with his dead body for two hours before seeking medical attention, hours after they were advised to take him to the hospital and they too were not charged with medical negligence. (Yet in another case in FL similar case they were charged with medical negligence). The family wants closure to his death and believes someone should be held accountable. He left behind three handsome boys 2, 1 and an unborn baby (born 10/15/2012) that he will never meet. They deserve to know what happened to him to know that the systems works and the person or people who did this to their father is/are behind bars. They deserve a proper investigation which we feel was not done on his behalf. We are asking for help to bring them to justice. My nephew didn’t deserve this no one does. Marco was far from perfect but he and his family deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. He deserves peace and with his murderers still out there how can he. His mother and children need closure.
