Hongyi (Mark) Ye started this petition to Marc Garneau (Minister of Foreign Affairs)

Japan is to release 1.25 million tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean. Tokyo Electric Power Co. claims that only tritium, the least harmful radionuclide, will be present in the wastewater after the water is processed by the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS). However, this statement has not been verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency. In addition, ALPS is unable to remove radioactive substances such as carbon-14, whose half-life is 5730 years. Thus, I hope you can sign this petition, so that the minister of foreign affairs of Canada can urge the Government of Japan to abandon their current scheme and seek for an alternative.
