What is the point of having a whistle blow when a crossing already has a gate, lights and bells? If the by-law requires a whistle then why waste our tax payer dollars on the additional equipment that serves little to no purpose? I live two blocks away from the Kanaka crossing (which has ALL the additional safety requirements) and yet still have to endure the "above acceptable noise level" designated within a community for noise pollution, from train whistles throughout the night and early morning. It interferes with one's sleep and "enjoyment of life".
Since I live close by this is terrible. We have kids in the neighborhood, schools & retirement couples. These people wont be quarantined to that location, they spread among neighborhoods causing crime & the feeling of not being safe.
