We, the undersigned, request the City of Maple Grove to carefully consider the proposed Elm Road development. We ask that you reconsider the proposal in order to protect our green spaces and historic, irreplaceable trees for all to enjoy and for future generations.

We believe the 2040 Comprehensive Plan which allows for destruction of natural areas and historic forestland in favor of adding more homes, retail and businesses is negatively impacting our green spaces, wildlife and the overall quality of life in our beautiful city. The decision to allow demolition of these areas can never be undone.

Our rare green space and trees, including 200 year old timber are far more valuable than more rooftops and concrete. Thousands of trees will be bulldozed to accommodate the excessive impervious structures and surfaces proposed according to the 2040 Comprehensive Plan that does not align with the preservation of the environment and consider the next generation. The environmental impact of demolition of the natural areas of Elm Road is a great detriment to our city. This area is used and enjoyed by not only the residents, but everyone in the area and is habitat for flora and wildlife.

We thank the Maple Grove City Council for your hours of service and for making our city great. We urge you to step back from the pressure of developers to destroy natural areas, forestland, and wildlife. We believe the 2040 Comprehensive Plan does not align with residents and future generations. Please find a way to keep these rare and unique parts of Maple Grove beautiful, natural, and an environmentally sensitive asset for generations to come.
