To the Director of Manipal Institute of Technology,

Dear Sir,
This petition is regarding the notice that was distributed by the insitute on 9th May, 2020.

We are trying our best to learn from the online lectures that are being taken by the faculty and would like to thank them for working so hard in this difficult time.

However the following problem are being faced by the students and i would like to bring them to your notice:

This lockdown is a very stressful time for all of us and is not a conducive environment for learning.

Most of us are unable to respond to this mode of learning in a positive way.
There are many students who have left their laptops and notes in college and have come back home, thinking that the college was going to start after a week.

There are many students who are stuck in areas with bad network and will not be able to prepare for these exams, let alone take them online. Giving these exams later in the form of makeup exams in the next semester will put an additional pressure on them, causing their grades to lower even further for this and the following semester.

Due to the lockdown, all the repair centers are shut, hence the students who are facing difficulties with their laptops will not be able to learn and take part in these online exams

For many students, the environment at home is not ideal for giving online exams.

In many colleges, including Mumbai University, the end semester exams have been cancelled and grades are being assigned based on past performance and internals

We hope that you look into this matter and come up with alternatives that suit us better.

Thanking you,
The students of MIT
