This is a call to action in regards to a development that is proposed at the site of this 2 acre single family residence (to be demolished) built in 1856. There was a meeting on Sep. 5th with Benchmark Construction at Grandview UMC to discuss the plans. 

Why should I oppose this?

- Demolition of historic home built in 1856. 

- “paving paradise” to put in a parking lot. 

- Congestion to a very dangerous stretch of Pleasure Road. 

- subpar architecture

- Poor use of a 2 acre lot as the nearby Stehli Silk Mill has plans to be developed into 120-140 units. 

Project Notes

- 55 and over community. Benchmark could change this though. Benchmark stated they had no appetite for any type of low income housing with this project. 

-26 one bedroom & 18 two bedroom apartments. 

- Property is under agreement to be sold to WH Indian Springs drive LLC. This LLC is made up of owners of Benchmark Construction. 

- Township zoning meeting is oct 7th. This property is currently zoned for 13 people. 

I think it’s important our entire neighborhood/community know what is happening. Make no mistake, Benchmark is doing as little as possible to let the public know about this. They sent a rep out door to door yesterday (24 hours prior to the meeting) to make those surrounding 600 Pleasure Road aware of the meeting.
