Safer Streets for Our Walking Kids and Seniors

Two years ago my then 3 year old daughter was hit by a car. The driver wasn't driving the speed limit, wasn't slowing down for the school crossing, and wasn't even looking at the road in front of him.

We live on Blanche, thankfully at a stop sign. However this location simply provides a front row seat for all of the drivers who fail to consider stopping - most blow through the intersection without even looking both ways. We also live one block from Grandview on a street without a sidewalk. Children walk down the street all day long and drivers fly by them at speeds of 25 mph or higher. It is very frightening as a pedestrian, especially walking my three kids under 5 down the street - and the worst offenders are moms.

The reckless disregard for pedestrians is widespread, impacting several residential neighborhoods. We are calling on city officials to address this issue before someone is killed.
