Respected madam,

Menstrual cycle is a routine phenomenon experienced by all the women including working women. A very common and known fact but the most ignored one too. For most of the women it is very painful and inconvenient to go to work for at least 2-3 days a month. Not all the women (specially  the ones working at Govt. schools having maximum female workforce than any other sector) are privileged enough to have well furnished toilets and sanitary hygiene available to them at their work place. Since decades, they have been either denied leave for their very common, regular and monthly inconvenience or it is managed through other leaves like casual leave or medical leave. Women have to lie every month to their boss/ superintendent ( if he happens to be a male) that बच्चा बीमार है, तबियत नहीं ठीक है etc. etc.She is tongue-tied when cross examined that what the actual problem with her health is? If we continue to manage our routine period leaves with pre- calculated casual leaves or medical leaves then it jeopardizes real medical emergencies or a sudden urgency. With more and more women joining the work force with all sorts of background (widowed, divorced, unmarried and taking care of old parents) it is sheer injustice to let them adjust their monthly need with other important and indispensable leaves. It will be a great help and tribute to all the tax-payer women contributing both to Indian economy and Indian society to be sanctioned with at least 3-day period leave every month so that they can contribute more effectively towards the multiple roles assigned to them in Indian society. I hope my plea would definitely find your attention and due actions soon would be taken by you. This will be a path-breaking step for all women by a women holding an office of their welfare.

Regards
