ALL OILS need to be clearly labelled on all products on Australian shelves.

These include Palm Oil, Cotton Seed, Coconut, Sunflower, Olive, Canola, Rapeseed and any other oil contained in products.

Products that contain derivatives of these oils also need to clearly state which oil the derivatives are sourced from.

There needs to be compulsory labelling on ALL products that make their way to Australian shelves.

Dear Parliamentarian,

As a consumer I am asking for all oils to be clearly labelled on all products on Australian Shelves.

I deserve the right to know what I am purchasing and consuming. I deserve the right to make the choice as to which oils I wish to avoid and which oils I wish to support the production of.

These include Palm Oil, Cotton Seed, Coconut, Sunflower, Olive, Canola, Rapeseed and any other oil contained in products.

As it stands, only 3 vegetable oils must be labelled on food products in Australia, all other vegetable oils can be labelled as “Vegetable Oil”, not good enough.
If it’s Palm label it as Palm, if it’s Soy Label it as Soy. Label it appropriately so it can be clearly read when trying to make a decision to purchase, as it stands, it is impossible while these oils are hidden under the title of vegetable oil.

Products that contain derivatives of these oils also need to clearly state which oil the derivatives are sourced from, such products include Skin Care, Beauty Products, Cleaning Products, Detergents, Hair Care, Laundry etc..

I demand compulsory labelling of ALL Oils on ALL products that make their way to Australian shelves, it is my right as a consumer to be able to make this decision.

If the United States of America (USA) & The European Union (EU) can have Truth In Labelling, why can't Australia?

In January 2011, an independent Review of Food Labelling Law and Policy presented 61 recommendations to food regulation ministers for action. Under recommendation 12, the review panel recommended a number of changes to the way that added sugars, added fats and added vegetable oils, including palm oil, are declared, as well as recommending modifications to the nutrition information panel.

I urge you to support any move Parliament takes to ensure that Vegetable Oils (Soy, Palm, Sunflower, Coconut, etc) are clearly labelled in Australia.
