What is bottle deposit?

"The bottle deposit, can deposit [...], is a deposit system and refers to an amount of money that the customer leaves with a beverage provider for purchased beverage containers, usually bottles, cases or beverage cans, and receives back with the return of the container." You pay 25 cents more per deposit bottle. As soon as the buyer returns the bottle to the store, he gets the 25 cents back. (Example German deposit system)

Advantages of a deposit system:

• Less to no pollution of the environment from bottles or cans with deposit labeling.
• Less load on trash cans in public areas
• Secured return of recyclable material for more sustainability

Does this also work in practice?

Taking the German deposit system as an example, it can be clearly said that the deposit system leads to a significantly higher reuse rate of PET and metal. More than 93% of all PET bottles are now recycled. Source

But even the German deposit system, like those of other countries, still leaves plenty of room for improvement.

Which countries already have such a bottle deposit system?

Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Croatia, Estonia and Lithuania.

Cause of my petition?

On my bicycle trip through Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece, one thing constantly accompanied me. Plastic bottles, cans and other garbage lay almost everywhere along the paths I rode. And that in the cities or in the middle of nowhere. More than 90% of them were plastic bottles or cans that would not have ended up there with a deposit system that I described.

The assumption that this pollution is caused by tourism is only partly true, because the locals also thoughtlessly dispose of their trash exactly where it accumulates.

This hurts me very much to see, which is why I demand that all current and future (Albania) EU member states introduce appropriate deposit systems. This will prevent consumers from throwing their garbage into the environment and thus protect nature more from pollution.

Of course, the best thing would be a uniform deposit system throughout Europe. As a first step, therefore, each country should at least have its own.

Was ist Flaschen-Pfand?

Man zahlt pro Pfandflasche 25 Cent mehr. Sobald der Käufer die Flasche im Laden abgibt erhält er die 25 Cent zurück. (Beispiel deutsches Pfandsystem)

Weitere Vorteile eines Pfadsystems:
- Geringere bis keine Verschmutzung der Umwelt durch Flaschen oder Dosen mit Pfandkennzeichnung
- Geringere Belastung der Mülleimer im öffentlichen Raum
- Gesicherter Rücklauf von Recycelbarem Material für mehr Nachhaltigkeit 

Funktioniert das auch in der Praxis?
Am Beispiel des deutschen Pfandsystems lässt sich eindeutig sagen, dass das Pfandsystem zu einer deutlich höheren Wiederverwendungsrate von PET und Metall geführt. Inzwischen werden mehr als 93% aller PET-Flaschen recycelt. Quelle
Aber selbst das deutsche Pfandsystem lässt so wie die der anderen Länder noch viel Freiraum für Verbesserungen.

Welche Länder haben bereits ein solches Flaschenpfandsystem?
Deutschland, Norwegen, Schweden, Finnland, Dänemark, Island, Niederlande, Kroatien, Estland und Litauen.

Anlass meiner Petition?
Auf meiner Fahrradreise durch Italien, Slowenien, Kroatien, Montenegro, Albanien und Griechenland hat mich eine Sache konstant begleitet. Plastikflaschen und Dosen und anderer Müll lagen fast überall entlang der Wege, die ich gefahren bin. Egal ob mitten in der Stadt oder mitten im Nirgendwo. Mehr als 90% davon waren Plastikflaschen oder Dosen, die mit einem von mir beschriebenen Pfandsystem dort nicht gelandet wären. 
Die Vermutung, dass diese Verschmutzung durch den Tourismus verursacht wird stimmen nur teils denn auch die Einheimischen entsorgen ihren Müll gedankenlos genau dort, wo er anfällt. 
Das mit anzusehen tut mir sehr weh, weswegen ich für alle bisherigen aber auch zukünftigen (Albanien) EU-Mitgliedstaaten eine Regelung fordere, dass entsprechende Pfandsysteme eingeführt werden müssen. Dadurch wird verhindert, dass der Konsument seinen Müll in die Umwelt gibt, was dazu führt das die Natur etwas mehr vor Verschmutzung geschützt ist.
Am Besten wäre ein europaweit einheitliches Pfandsystem. Für den Anfang erfüllt es aber auch seinen Zweck wenn jedes Land sein eigenes hat.
