Women in medicine and in other fields of STEM: science, technology, engineering, and math are extremely underrepresented. Many women drop out of these professions even if they are doing well due to implicit gender bias. We would like to use this campaign to help educate and advocate for specifically women in the medical field so they are better represented. Many students as well as educators are unaware of the unconscious gender biases that occur in STEM classrooms. These biases are extremely debilitating to women entering the field. For that reason, we want to make bias training mandatory in college STEM classrooms. We believe that educating both professors and students on unconscious biases will be extremely important in reaching gender equality in the field.
