Did you know that there’s no policy enforced that assists in students receiving social services in schools?

My name is Walter Linares and I am a Masters in Social Work student graduating May 2022. As I finish my days in this program, I have come across many gaps in service. These gaps in service have become further impacted by COVID-19. A gap in service that I am focusing on is reaching senators such as Senator Bob Hertzberg. Senator Hertzberg represents San Fernando Valley; a community of marginalized communities involving youth in need of social services accessible to them found in schools. My goal is that this petition reaches Senator Hertzberg along with a presentation to explain the need and statistics for a change in placing social workers in schools. This change in mandating the placement of school social workers will assist students navigate hardships that are further magnified due to COVID-19.
