Project Never Again Oregon started this petition

Fellow Oregonians,

Did you know that children in Oregon's foster care often have to use garbage bags and boxes to carry their belongings as they enter foster care. Project Never Again has supported the Oregon Child Welfare Division since 2018 by providing up to 12,000 duffel bags directly to Statewide Offices in the hopes that Case Workers would use these bags in place of garbage bags. Over these past five years, we have worked tirelessly to educate and encourage Child Welfare leaders to make a change. To ban trash bags and ensure that every child who needs a bag receives one, but this effort has proven to be more difficult than we anticipated. The lack of consistency or desire to make an internal policy change has led us to:

- Oregon Senate Bill 548 - a legislative action to stop the use of trash bags

Garbage bags should NEVER be an option for vulnerable children, nor should a State Agency depend on the community to provide this essential need. It is time for a CHANGE!

Please help us advocate for our children in foster care by signing this petition.  This bill if passed into law will ensure that children entering/transitioning/exiting Oregon's foster care will never be handed a garbage bag to carry their lives.

Together, let us all become the voice behind this change!

Please sign and share along for maximum support. #dignitythruduffels
