Benjamin Doda started this petition to Manalapan Township Committee

We are trying to preserve land in Manalapan and keep Manalapan green via a system of several interconnected nature trails.

Read the article in the Asbury Park Press: Manalapan duo resurrect old plan for more biking, walking trails

View/download the plan: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fmd9kl1k7xk5stp/Trails.pdf?dl=0&fbclid=IwAR2a4XXF30LSGlY47rZQOgDlPHc6iqFj4ZU4UJQCjXNh84oSNZoCwgHUIZQ

Among the proposed trails:

  • A mile-long trail looping around the Wynkoop Bird Sanctuary behind the Monmouth County Library. The walkway would be elevated, not paved, so as not to infringe on the animals.
  • Multiple bike trails from Charleston Springs through to the Marlboro border, connecting to the Henry Hudson trail.
  • A trail along Manalapan Brook, connecting Thompson Grove Park to the Oakland Mills Road Park.
  • A trail from the commuter lot behind Franklin Lane through wooded and residential areas and around Milford Brook Park.

This is not a pipe dream - there is a master plan developed by an engineering firm, TM Associates. Per the article, the trails were approved by the Manalapan Township Committee in 2009, but were never built and "languished under economic woes."

The window is closing. There is not much time left to install something like this before it is too late. Sign the petition now to help us preserve the character and integrity of Manalapan, now and for generations to come.
