Switching back to online mode (MSc. Optical Science, HUB)
- We believe that the advantages of getting back to the online mode far outweigh the disadvantages.
(MSc. Optical Science, Humboldt University of Berlin)
Our reasons:
1. The increasing numbers of Corona cases in the city puts both the staff and the students' health at risk:
The vaccine effectively prevents severe disease and death but vaccinated people may still get infected and transmit the infection. Furthermore, infection from other viruses, like flu, could add to the chaos.
2. A considerable number of students live far away from the campus:
Traveling by public transport four days a week - during morning and evening rush hour- to attend the lectures poses a real risk to their health.
3. The lectures will be recorded and there will be an educational archive always accessible for students.
4. More efficient classes: Since our program contains lots of writing, having the lecture notes ready before all the participants, would save a great amount of time for the lecturer to delve deeper into the content.
5. Better grasp: Online teaching enables the lecturer to use videos, software, and many other exciting tools for quality training.
6. Many students are struggling with visa procedures: Online lectures make participation possible for them.
