Beech Mountain Town Council (3 seats)
Barry Kaufman 167, J. Weidner Abernathy 153, Carl Marquardt 92, E. (Rick) Miller 40, Paul Piquet 42, write-in 11
Mr. Abernathy is a Beech Mountain Resident and Qualified for the Town Council Seat based on:
-Mr. Abernathy has voted in past elections on Beech Mountain as a resident.
-Mr. Abernathy completed all the requirements to run for Town Council office, otherwise his application would have been denied at the start of the election process. His residency was questioned and approved.
-Mr. Abernathy has shown passion for Beech Mountain serving on the Volunteer Fire Department and Ski Patrol, working year round for Beech Mountain. He is also a standing member of Beech Mountain Club. As a small business owner, he plans on bringing a business approach to Beech Mountain.
-Mr. Abernathy resides on Beech Mountain and travels for business, the question of a Banner Elk PO Box address is mute as many Beech Mountain residents use Banner Elk Post Office as their address.
This election brought in new members to Beech Mountain's Town Council, people passionate about the place they live and wanting to make a difference. Let us not drive away these people by playing politics with the results. From the above tallies courtesy of the Watauga Democrat, it is obvious the people have spoken, let their voices be heard.
I have opened this petition to residents and tax paying property owners of Beech Mountain. Thank you.
