''Never Underestimate The Power Of A Good Radio Station''...
We the undersigned believe TXFM (formerly Phantom FM) plays an essential role in promoting contemporary alternative Irish music both label supported and unsigned artists. Those of us who have signed below feel the following associated with TXFM need to reconsider the impending closure of the station these include:
- TXFM Management
- Evergreen Ventures
- Gaiety Investments
- Communicorp Group
- Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI)
Firstly, we ask the BAI to reorganize the alternative radio licence. We also ask Communicorp, Evergreen Ventures, Gaiety Investments to reconsider the closure of TXFM.
The comments below show just how important TXFM is to music listeners in Dublin, across the country and globally.
For TXFM listeners, the curators of alternative Irish music with in-depth music knowledge and support for Irish music. TXFM's DJ's and researchers are passionate about music but more importantly they are passionate about promoting upcoming Irish artists.
Currently both public and private broadcasters fail to accommodate Irish music and alternative music whereas TXFM pushes Irish artists to the fore.
Please reconsider the stations closure (reformat it if you have to) but please save our favourite station. More importantly save the station for those who may lose their jobs and of course for the stations listeners. #SaveTXFM
Thanks for taking your time to read this.
UPDATE: from July 3, 2016 many of TXFM's flagship programming will be axed and replaced by automated music programming. We hope to send this petition to TXFM and the BAI in early August so please get people to sign the petition before August. We know this is a long shot but if we show support for an alternative radio station it may give hope for a new station in Ireland in the future.
UPDATE: On August 31, 2016 - the petition has been submitted to the BAI and Communicorp. Thanks to all those who've signed the petition and please keep it going.
