Petitioning Managed Care Health Plans

Increase the fees paid to private practice psychotherapists

Managed Health Care plans came into effect in the late 80's/early 90's to supposedly keep costs down because supposedly doctors were making too much money. At that time they drastically cut fees paid to therapists. Increases since then, if any, come at token amounts and have not reached 1970s levels AND have not reached levels adjusted for inflation, yet paperwork and telephone demands have increased causing less ability to really manage a case as it should be done. As therapists have to see more patients in a week to compensate for the lower fees and do more paperwork contrived by Managed Care companies, there is lass time for study, further education reading and connecting with other professionals to help patients. Signing this petition would say that you are concerned for not only your therapist's welfare, but their ability to care for your family and friends.
