For over 10 years Phuthaditjhaba Hall has been standing unused and being vandalised. Qwakanda would like for the municipality to turn the hall into a theatre when renovating it instead of making it a hall again. 

If the historic building is to remain a hall, it will only benefit the municipality as it will booked for events from outsiders with funds going directly to the municipality alone, and will only be used when there's a booking or event but if the hall was to be turned into a theatre it would create a lot of jobs for the local youth, especially artists. E.g lighting technicians, stage managers, sound technicians, security guards, ticket officers, cleaners, food vendors and performing artists as a theatre operates daily.

The theatre will also boost our local economy with shows from other provinces coming to Qwa-Qwa, it will also attract international shows and further boost our local economy. 

Qwakanda as a non-profit company invites everyone to sign this petition, as we already have over 300 physical signatures. We are building for the next generation of artists, since Qwa-Qwa is home to the world's greatest artists.
