Have a free vote in parliament to achieve marriage equality in Australia! No plebiscite!

The Marriage Amendment Bill 2004 was created by John Howard, to exclude same sex couples from being able to get married in Australia. The current marriage act reads "voluntarily entered-into union of a man and a woman to exclusion of all others." This act was changed without a plebiscite in the past and can be changed again.
With the current proposed postal plebiscite, the strict laws on campaigning won't apply to this vote. This vote is voluntary and will not represent all Australians. A majority yes result does not mean that marriage equality will be achieved. A majority no will mean there will be no further action taken on marriage equality under the Liberal Government. The plebiscite is an expensive opinion poll to assist The Liberal party to avoid taking action on marriage equality.
We call upon the parliament to hold a free vote in parliament and do the job they were elected to do. We do not want to hold an expensive plebiscite or postal plebiscite that will be detrimental to LGBTQI+ Australians health. We, the Australian people deserve marriage equality.
