CHANGE AUSTRALIA DAY SO ALL AUSTRALIANS CAN CELEBRATE OUR GREAT NATION

Australia day is celebrated on 26th January each year but is not an historical celebation but one that has been celebrated over the last 25 years.
I believe this day should be changed so that all Australians can unite together to celebrate our great country, in particular our first peoples, the traditional owners of this great land.
The government talks about reconciliation and the unity of all Australian peoples.. and yet set a date that is painful for our indigenous peoples as to them it is the day that they were disenfranchised in their own land. A day that began a genocide of their people.. a day that began apartheid, enslavement and the stolen generation.
They have fought in our wars and stood shoulder to shoulder with anglo saxon Australians, and yet failed to receive the same recognition as other soldiers u pon their return home.
It is time for Australia at large to move forward. To be serious politically about steps toward reconciliation with our first people's. A time to acknowledge that there is much to be done, much that can and should be done in order for all Australians to stand proud and tall on a day that all can celebrate.
For too long the government of this country have paid lip service to these important issues. Mabo and Wik did much but not enough and has been whittled away over time.
We cannot stand proud as a nation in unity and solidarity while the festering wounds of the past remain unhealed.
Australia is about the 'celebration of a nation'!
LET'S UNITE AND DO IT TOGETHER!
CHANGE THE DATE!
