Australia Day: change the date

We have chosen to campaign for changing the date for Australia Day and how it is offensive to Indigenous people. We celebrate Australia day on the 26 of January and aboriginals find that offensive because that was when the first fleet landed in Australia. So, they feel it Australia Day to them as Invasion Day because the British colonists came and did want they wanted with no regard for indigenous Australians who had been custodians of the land for thousands of years. The British even stated Australia was Terra nullius which is a Latin term meaning "nobody's land” so England claimed but that isn’t right. We want to change the date to the 1st of January instead of 26th because Australia became a Nation on the first and that would be celebrating Australia as a Nation and not as invasion day.
