Torbrae home is going to be used as a homless unit for single men who may or may not have some sort of problems ie, drugs/criminal past/sex offenders. Glasgow City Council have said it is not permanent and will only be for 6 months 'at the most'.
The area around Torbrae home, houses a large amount of local families and is also surrounded by wooded areas. The walkways from these paths lead directly to two local primary schools as well as the local shopping centre, youth complex and various clubs etc.
Housing these troubled men will result in higher crime in the area, making various areas of castlemilk a "no go" area and will have a negative impact on the areas reputation which so many local residents have fought over the years to change!
There was a local meeting about this on Thursday 15th May but this was not advertised well so as a result only a handful of residents were present to object. Resulting in a go ahead from councillers, police scotland and the salvation army.
There is no evidence of this meeting or the plans anywhere online or on the Councils own website as they know it will be blocked by residents. Please add your support to this petition to show the people of Castlemilk will not stand for this!
