Bahasa Malaysia is the National Language in our Country. It has always been the SJKT and SJKC that need to pass BM to jump into form 1. The current system is not practised in our Primary Government schools (SK), even though our National Language needs to be known by all Malaysians.

Students who fail in BM subject should be treated equally, no matter which school they come from. It can be SK, SJKC OR SJKT.

Students with a Mastery Level of TP1 to TP3 will need to then pass the Bahasa Melayu Assessment Literacy Test (UPLBM) to move forward to Form 1, while students who fail the UPLBM will be denied entry to Form 1 and will be placed in ‘Kelas Peralihan’ or ‘Remove/Preparatory Class’.'

However, it seems like we are not respecting the SK school system whereby students can jump into form 1 without any issues although they fail the BM subject.

Since these primary students don't go through UPSR anymore, SK schools should also be more firm on students passing their BM subject for the end year paper or having their oral and writing test for them to jump into form 1. We strongly believe that this matter have to be given serious attention by our Education Ministry because It humiliates the SK, hence this system needs to be flat for all the schools in Malaysia.

We could create an awareness of the importance of The National Language in Malaysia and also equal rights to students.
