Malaysia: Lower the minimum voting age from 21 to 18 years old

This petition had 2,237 supporters

Petition target: 2000 signatures

1.5 million adult Malaysians are denied the right to vote.

They pay taxes, they fight for us in the military, they raise families, they are capable of signing contracts and are held legally responsible for their actions. Yet they are not allowed to vote in elections that determine the future of their country. This is the injustice that young adults in Malaysia face.

Support our petition to lower the voting age from 21 to 18 years old! Help give our youth a say in our democracy. We therefore urge parliament to consider amending Article 119(1) of the Federal Constitution to lower the minimum voting age from 21 to 18.

If you have the time, please take a look at our official petition, our supporting organizations and signatory individuals. Click here:

Once we reach 2000 signatures, we will send this petition to the Prime Minister's Office to ensure that the government is aware of the will of the nation.
