Jennifer Kozma started this petition

Before Marlene Shepard was tragically struck and killed at this intersection in Bristol, CT, she had reached out to the town and the state regarding the safety of this road for pedestrians.

Nothing was done and now we are mourning the loss of a daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend. Although it’s too late to change what happened to our loved one, It’s not too late to keep this intersection from taking from your family what it has taken from ours: a beautiful, bright, caring, woman who would have given you the shirt off of her back even if it was all she had.

We have started this petition to rally for Marlene and for the safety of all pedestrians in the area.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Farmington Avenue (Route 6) and Jerome Avenue. Marlene was using the crosswalk when she was struck. When we visited the scene of the accident and used the crossing signals, we realized that there is no point in time where there isn’t traffic through that intersection, even when the crosswalk signals tell you to go.

We want to change this! We know that this is going to be a long fight but we are ready to go to the distance in order to get justice for Marlene.

If you have driven through, walked across, or are familiar with the area in any way and agree that the traffic/crosswalk are unsafe, and are an issue that need to be addressed, PLEASE sign this petition. Our goal is to get crosswalks and signals that will stop all traffic for pedestrians who are crossing at this intersection.
