You may not be aware of the problem with metrobuses using diesel. You may think "So what a couple of buses produce c02." And even though, using public buses help reduce green house gas emissions, did you know that an average 40-foot diesel bus emits 2,680 grams of c02 per mile (g/mi)[1] while an electric bus charged on the average U.S energy mix emits 1,078 g/mi, roughly a 50% reduction[1]. However, D.C.'s Circulator system owns 14 battery-electric buses, and Alexandria's DASH and Montgomery County's Ride On also have several. WMATA purchased one electric bus in 2017 but it has seen limited use[2]. When you sign this petition you are ensuring that you have a say in what goes on with your city buses. This is just one of the big changes we are going to have to make in order to make the word a better place, by ending climate change. I hope you sign this petition, and even if you don't, I hope you at least become better informed after reading this article.
