A proportionally festive gift from John Cleese!

Dec 22, 2018 —

You may know that John Cleese - of Monty Python fame - has in the past campaigned for Proportional Representation.

Well, good news! John has been working with Make Votes Matter and animator Fred Tschepp on a brand new video about why the UK urgently needs electoral reform - and you're invited to be one of the first to see it.

We hope this will help get the general public thinking about fair votes. For this to happen, we need it to go viral! So please share the video widely on social media or by email. Enjoy!

On behalf of Make Votes Matter, Merry Christmas and a Democratic New Year!

It's been a great and important year in the campaign for fair votes. From a 24 hour fast for PR in February, to a national Action Day in the summer, to a busy conference season.

The People’s Lobby for Proportional Representation was just the perfect way to end the year, more than 150 PR supporters from 65 constituencies came to Westminster to lobby MPs for a change in our voting system.

The same evening we recognised the work of activists, campaign groups and parliamentarians who have worked towards making the UK a real democracy. To find out more about what happened on the day, and to see who won the Democracy Awards, read our blog.

Next year will be all about growing the scale of the movement - and we'll be in touch shortly about what comes next.

In the meantime, thank you for your support and have a very merry Christmas and a Democratic New Year!
