Why this petition matters
As we mature we get in trouble for things we can’t control like having a chest and growing a butt. if a girl with a flat chest is wearing a tank top and a girl with a larger chest is wearing the same exact shirt.. the one with a bigger chest is going to get in trouble. but why? theyre both wearing the same shirt.. girls can’t wear shirts with small straps but boys can wear their pants at their knees. we have always been taught to love our selves and our bodies, but when we start to learn to love our bodies and how we look in styles of clothing we are told that we can’t wear them.. We are 14-18 year old girls who go to school to learn not to get called out in the middle of the hallways getting told “cover up” because are shoulders are showing or some of my belly lifted up from my shirt. the dress code is the way it objectifies females based on the size of their bodies. every woman and female growing is going to want to wear what they feel most comfortable in. Most students want to feel safe and comfortable in schools. Yet, go to school and get criticized on the clothing they wear and what makes them feel most comfortable in their own skin.. As a female, I do not feel equal to my male counterparts, because the attention is placed on the way I look and not the way I think. there should definitely still be a dress code, but not as bad and make should be equal to males just as much as females..
