On 30th March 2022, Tom Parker, a member of the band called The Wanted passed away following a gruelling battle against a brain tumour. Tom was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumour, which was inoperable and terminal, in October 2020 and due to the ongoing pandemic, he had to face many of his appointments and treatment alone. Tom never let the cancer beat him, he was always strong and courageous until the end. Unfortunately, Tom left behind two beautiful young children and a gorgeous wife who loved him endlessly when he passed away. His memory and music shall live on forever through his family, brothers, friends and fans.

Tom was a big football fan and always used to tweet about games on his Twitter page. He was also very confident playing football himself and once played against David Beckham in a friendly kick around in LA when he was 24 years old. 

In honour of Tom’s memory, I have started this petition to make The Wanted’s Rule The World this year’s England World Cup song. I believe this song is very upbeat and powerful, with a lot of emotion. It just gives me a World Cup song vibe and I’m sure Tom would love to see this happen from above. We want to keep his memory alive and I believe this will also give warmth to the rest of the Wanted and how we shall all continue to support them.
