If you, like me you think that all high risk Tasmanians should have access to free Meningococcal B vaccinations please sign this petition.
Why does this matter so much to me?
In August 2000 at just 17 I contracted Meningococcal B - one day I was full of life, the next I was unable to walk, dragging myself around on my hands and knees and vomiting uncontrollably.
Within another 12 hours i was in hospital in a coma for close to 4 days.
I consider myself lucky - I survived but was left legally blind with only minimal vision.
I was given second chance and have made the most of the live I’ve been given.Sadly, others haven’t been given the same second chance.
Almost 18 years later, three weeks ago I sat on my couch crying, desperate, angry and sad at the news another beautiful young Tasmanian girl had lost her life to this horrible disease & five other people including a three month old baby had been hospitalised.
I’ve decided to do what I can to stop this happening to others - enough is enough.
With the help of my best friend, Kacee we are going to do all we can to ensure the unfunded Meningococcal B vaccine becomes available for free for high risk groups in Tasmania.
Please sign the petition so we can make sure those in Government know just how many Tasmanians support action to ensure not one more child will die as a result of this horrible disease.
