Yes, I want Meningococcal B free for all children on the State Immunisation Plan

NSW children and teenagers (14-24) continue to be struck down by Meningococcal B disease. Some die tragically from it, while others are left severely disabled or with permanent side effects.

Last year Australia had a sharp rise in cases, 100 cases nationally – 2022 saw 32 confirmed cases of Meningococcal B in NSW alone - a vaccine preventable disease! Case numbers are already growing this year in NSW (6). 1 in 10 will die who contract Men B and 1 in 4 will suffer lifelong disability - recent research demonstrates an average cost of above 10 million dollars over the survivor’s lifetime from taxpayers’ money. This disease can kill within 24 hours.

Meningococcal disease is a life-threatening bacterial infection, and the question of the vaccine’s affordability should not be an obstacle for NSW parents when it comes to protecting their kids – at a cost of over $250 per dose and with rising inflation this is now unaffordable to most families in NSW.

WE NEED YOU to ensure the Meningococcal B vaccine becomes part of the NSW State immunisation plan this election, it’s time for the NSW government to make a change that will have a positive impact on our children saving lives and disability.
