Make sure the Groton RTM supports education!

Our children, teachers, and schools still need our help! The fight is far from over.
The education budget is now in the hands of the Groton Representative Town Meeting (RTM). They have the power to roll back the progress we made with the Town Council and cut the budget. We need to guard against this and fight for budget increases. We need to continue our advocacy for a Groton education budget that fully supports our children and Groton schools.
The Groton Town Council voted on a budget (on April 21st) that restores some of their earlier cuts, but their budget still is far below the Board of Education requested budget.
As it stands, Pleasant Valley still will close, many teachers and staff still will be laid off, elementary class sizes will rise, and funding for innovative educational software (Lexia and ST Math) will be cut.
The next round in our fight for education is the Groton RTM. We need them to know that we will not stand for education cuts and we need to push for budget increases above the Groton Town Council budget.
Signing the petition, calling RTM members, attending RTM meetings, and speaking up all will help. They need to know how important a good education budget is to the future of our children and our town. There is no better investment!
