We have been told nationwide to stay at home to slow the spread of COVID-19. I've recently discovered that there are only a select few states that allow SNAP (food stamp) benefits to be used online for grocery delivery. There are a few companies, such as Walmart, that will accept SNAP benefits online only to require that you pick up in-store, which still exposes customers to the virus at locations where the pickup kiosk is located indoors. Other companies, such as Amazon, do accept benefits for shipping; however, only a handful of states are approved. As I continue hearing complaints of COVID-19 continuing to spread as people are not staying home, I find myself wondering why this issue has not been addressed. According to the SNAP statistic documents found on the USDA Food and Nutrition Services webpage located at  https://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/supplemental-nutrition-assistance-program-snap there were 18,992,265 households receiving benefits as of December 2019.  Consider that at least one person from each household would then have to physically go to the store to get their family's food. Now consider that there are single-parent families who have no other option but to take their children, some of which do have underlying medical issues, along with them to get the food needed to survive. There is no way to determine exactly how many people this affects. Then we must also consider all of the employees coming into daily contact with these people who could be limiting their contact to coworkers only. Store pickups could be located outdoors as they already are in some locations, but not all. Can more grocery stores offer curbside pick up while wearing gloves and facial masks? This concept would decrease potential exposure while potentially being less of an expense for companies to implement and avoiding increased unemployment.  Do we want this massive quantity of people having to leave their homes, or do we, as a nation, want to stop this virus? Anyone needing contact or application information can find it by clicking on your state at https://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/state-directory
