For years waitstaff, bartenders, & delivery drivers everywhere  have made approximately $5.00 less than the state minimum wage. 

Because most people today use debit/credit cards, the tips we receive are taxed & cause our  paychecks at the end of the pay period to be little to nothing.

If our tips, that are left to us personally by the public, have to be taxed, then we deserve minimum wage at the LEAST.

Inflation has risen & will continue to do so. It’s nearly impossible to live off minimum wage let alone $7.20 an hour.

As there are restaurants who require gratuity, there are still some that do not, causing situations where a server works for free due to their customers not tipping, which leads to out of pocket tip outs to other staff members such as bartenders/bussers/cashiers etc.

There are many individuals who simply do not believe in tipping & tell current waitstaff to “Get a better job” while some are not able to have a “high paying job”, specifically individuals with children & busy personal lives who need flexible scheduling.

 Why have we made it the publics job to pay for the roof over our heads & the food in our children's bellies if we can’t hold them accountable for not doing their part?

Some say gratuity is prejudice, when in reality, we are the ones being disrespected with a $7.00 an hour wage & customers who simply do not care if we walk out with enough money to pay for groceries & gas.
