It's time for change. Too many women have died at the hands of men by violence. Women deserve to be able to take a jog in the park, to take a walk, to walk home from the station at night, to get in a cab, to take public transport, to do everything a man can do, without fear of being murdered, attacked, or raped. If our society and our government won't make changes to protect women, then we must. 

If men will continue to attack women, then self defence should be made free and accessible to all girls and women in the UK and around the world. It is a basic human right of women to be able to protect themselves. When another heart breaking story arises about yet another tragic murder or attack on women, the government will say how sad, another women's life is lost. Men will say that's so awful, and shake their head. Yet nothing changes and violence against women continues.

If men and society won't change, then stop leaving women defenceless. Give them a way to protect themselves. This is a fundamental human right. Give women an edge in a society that allows women to be murdered, attacked and raped on a daily basis. If men won't stop raping and attacking, then women must have access to free self defence. Women must be able to fight back. Stop leaving women defenceless and even the playing field. 

You're kidding yourselves if you think our society will ever make changes and treat women fairly, when it is a society run in the majority by men. It is a society that is lenient towards men, controlled by men. This is why women are at a disadvantage to begin with. Men don't know how it feels to have to walk home with your keys in your hand, to constantly feel unsafe on the streets, in cars, in your home, or near strangers. Men don't know how it feels to be persecuted and attacked just because you are a woman. Men will never know how it feels to just try to survive the day without being attacked, raped or murdered.

It is time for us, women and men who are allies of women, to make the change ourselves. Please sign.
