Make science fiction great again.

Science fiction movies have stopped making sense. If you've seen The Last Jedi or Star Trek: Beyond, you might agree with me, even if you aren't from a science background. Writers can create scenes that defy the laws of physics (including movie physics) and kill entire storylines, and they get away with it because people don't care as long as they see amazing special effects.
I propose that we put someone smart in a position to do something about it. There are surprisingly many scientists and engineers that have turned to creative arts like writing. Eliezer Yudkowsky is one of these people. There are lots of other writers like John C. "Wildbow" McCrae and Randall Munroe that would be just as good. If these people were funded like the movie producers in Hollywood, they could change the world. If you haven't read HPMOR, Worm, or What If XKCD, you're in for a real treat. They're all free.
We don't have to live like this. It's just as easy to create movies that make sense, and accurate science fiction movies would be so much more fun to watch. Movie producers are wasting their ability to create mind-blowingly good special effects on movies with really terrible plots. For the love of science fiction, sign this petition.
P.S. This petition was created in order to convince science fiction movie producers to consult with sane and intelligent people like Eliezer. If enough of us sign this petition, we might raise enough awareness to get something changed.
