MAKE SAFE the junction of Bull Lane and Pilgrims Way Eccles Kent

This petition had 762 supporters

The T-junction of Bull Lane and Pilgrims Way has always been challenging and unsafe due to the limited visibility of this section of road for all users negotiating this junction from all directions. The risks of navigating this junction has recently increased due to the opening of the new bridge in Peters Village. More drivers are now using the Pilgrims Way to get from the Northern side of Medway to Maidstone and vice versa. With 1,000 new homes being built in Peters Village, the new residents will increase the risks of serious injury occurring at this junction.

The residents of Eccles are particularly at greater risk as drivers using the Pilgrims Way are failing to adhere to the speed limits and unaware they are approaching an un-sighted junction from both directions. This junction also has an added risk for pedestrians as they have to cross the road to get to the North Downs and Burham.

The local Parish council in Aylesford & Eccles, Burham & Wouldham, Borough councillors Alan Sullivan & Michael Base and our MP Tracey Crouch are fully supportive of the aims of the Bull Lane Safety Committee in our objective of making the junction safer before someone is seriously injured or even killed. Fortunately, there have only been minor incidents to date, but there have been many many un-reported near misses.

We need people to sign this petition as lives are at risk both driving and walking as we want to make this T-junction safer for all residents of the villages of Eccles, Burham, Wouldham and future residents of Peters Village, whether they are travelling by Car, Van, Bike, Bus, Horse, HGV, or on foot.

The Facts –

1.       There have already been minor injuries and collisions at this junction this year.

2.       There have been many un-reported near misses

3.       KCC have agreed to a feasibility study to slow the traffic flow and to work out some costings over the coming months
