The situation of Roma in Europe is catastrophic. While dedicated efforts are urgently needed, we observe lack of a sense of urgency to forcefully invest in equal citizenship for Roma! Therefor we ask all relevant European Commission officials and prime ministers of Member States to take concrete measures in the next programming period (2014-2020) to break the status quo.

We want them to carefully read the joint proposal: 'Measures Minimum Measures for Roma Participation in the EU and MS policy processes' (see: http://www.ergonetwork.org/ergo-network/news/) with concrete proposals for:

- How to set the right mechanisms so that grassroots Roma can become actors in the process of change to alter their own situation

- How to recognize and involve Roma expertise by setting up mechanisms for regular and transparent dialogue with Roma civil society and experts

- How to invest in the capacity and strategic development of Roma civil society by setting up targeted funding for Roma and Roma initiatives

Sign the petition and the letter below will be send to 20 EU representatives and 27 prime ministers!

I kindly ask you to read carefully the joint proposal that I support: 'Measures Minimum Measures for Roma Participation in the EU and MS policy processes' (see: http://www.ergonetwork.org/ergo-network/news/) with concrete proposals for:
- How to set the right mechanisms so that grassroots Roma can become actors in the process of change to alter their own situation
- How to recognize and involve Roma expertise by setting up mechanisms for regular and transparent dialogue with Roma civil society and experts
- How to invest in the capacity and strategic development of Roma civil society by setting up targeted funding for Roma and Roma initiatives
And I expect that these measures are translated into forceful policies and programmes that make sure Roma will be treated as equal citizens in their country.
Thank you!
