Although period poverty and the inverse in sanitation prices may not initially appear to be one of the uk’s greatest problems it still has a drastic impact on the quality of life for women, currently 1 in 10 women in the Uk are unable to afford sanitary products. This is amplified by current cost of living Crisis

The Lack of sanitary products forces women to rely on makeshift solution to control their periods with potentially dangerous consequences with 46% of women keeping pods/tampons in for longer than advised or using other as substitutes which are made of thin material resulting in them being highly in effecting and getting easily stuck. This causes bacteria to build which puts women at risk of toxic shock syndrome and infection. Toxic shock syndrome being a potentially fatal ailment.

Therefore we believe that sanitary products should be free to reduce the Rick and number of these infections. Our opinion is that sanitary products are a necessity not a luxury
