Hello. I am a student that attends Bacon Academy in Colchester Connecticut. As of this school year, the staff have shortened the time of the passing period from 5 minutes to 3. Even though this seems like a small change, it is actually a big deal. A lot of people have to go from the first floor to the third. With 5 minutes of time this was still barely enough time to get to class on time, but now it makes it very difficult. Even though it is the 3rd day, I've been late to multiple classes because I have to go from one side of the school to the other. Furthermore, teachers encourage students to use the bathroom during passing period so it doesn't take away from class time, but with this new rule it makes that out of the question. If they don't change this it can make students get tardies regularly, and getting multiple tardies in certain classes it can affect your overall grade and/or cause detentions. If we get enough people to sign this petition, we can probably get this rule to change back, and considering I haven't heard a single positive thing about this new rule I dont see why you shouldn't sign this petition.
